Why should I brew my own Beer?

Beer with manBrewing beer is fun, easy and very affordable but many people wonder why they should brew beer at home when they can just buy it at the store.

The truth is, you don’t have to but if your passionate enough and enjoy the flavor of a good craft beer, brewing it yourself is definitely worth trying.

First, it’s very affordable. In fact, brewing your own beer can cost as little as $5 a six-pack. This is for rich, great tasting craft beer not that cheap stuff! Also, you can try a variety of recipes and ingredients and really fine tune your brew to suit your own tastes.

Next, its fun. Heating, mixing, waiting, watching. The whole process from start to finish is interesting enough to keep you excited about the finished product while practicing patience while the yeast works its magic. You don’t need a lot of space or equipment, just a few hours in the kitchen and a few weeks later, your very own beer is ready to chill and serve.

Finally, its part of our heritage. Brewing beer can be dated as far back as 4300 BC perhaps and most definitly has its place in the history books as being a staple in many cultures.

So if you have a free Saturday and are curious about beer making in your home, stop by our store to learn all the facts, select your ingredients and get started.

Beer Bottling day

Today I am bottling my latest homebrew. I have a Wheat beer, Red Ale, a Coffee Stout and a Chocolate Cherry Stout to bottle. They were all partial mashes and have fermented for 2 weeks. After bottling they should be carbonated  in a week and ready to drink but they will get better if I can wait untill they age for 2 weeks. I am thinking my next brews will be a Blue Moon clone, Oatmeal Stout and a Pilsner.Still working recipes.
